When you have a great idea for a new project, and you wake up each morning (and sometimes in the middle of the night) with the same passion and focus you had when you first imagined it, there comes a time after a few weeks or months when you actually begin to see it, feel it, hear it, and taste it - on the page, the monitor, the canvas, the viewfinder, the sound mixer, or wherever it manifests itself.

Lisa and I had that moment this past week with Backseam.

We can't wait to share it with you early next year.

We think you'll love it.

Hard At Work

As many of you know by now, Lisa (Stocking Vixen) and I are fully engaged in the creation of an exciting new concept, company, and website called "Backseam."

As with any new company, this involves a huge commitment of time, energy and passion and we both are (and will continue to be) fully committed. So Fool For Your Stockings continues on its extended break, although I'll check in from time to time with updates on Backseam's progress.

I'll let Lisa tell the rest of the story:

"Thanks to everyone who dropped me a note checking in on me last week. Between a few family obligations and work picking up in earnest on Backseam, my new nylon project, it was impossible for my brain to string words together coherently enough to post on SV the last seven or eight days. Thanks for caring and thanks for being patient.

I'm working (more than) full-time now on creating Backseam - something I believe most people who read this blog will love and will hopefully find entertaining as well as incredibly useful and fun. I'm sorry to still be somewhat mysterious; my partner-in-crime, Nick Danger, has threatened to take away all my knee boots if I say too much.

We are, however, happy to give you all a sneak peek at the kinds of visuals that will inform Backseam, by sharing a Tumblr site we've built to blog images we feel capture the vibe of what Backseam, our new venture, will be all about.

Please note: this is not a preview of Backseam – we’re not ready to share that with you yet. With this Tumblr, we just wanted to give you a little taste of the kinds of visuals you’ll see on Backseam when it’s launched in early 2010.

And be warned: the circumspect Stocking Vixen has snapped her garters, so to speak, and this preview is absolutely not safe for work. If you are offended by visible lady parts, it's best not to click that link.

And some of the images we loved were so adult that we created a second blog, Backseam Extreme, for the really grown-up ones and I won't link to it here, but there's an easy-to-find-link on the Backseam Tumblr. The warning in the previous paragraph applies here in spades.

I've recognized in the last week that if I try to balance blogging regularly here with finishing Backseam that I am not going to do either thing well, so Stocking Vixen will have to be on semi-hiatus for the near future. Nick and I will be posting images and commentary over at the new Tumblrs as well as hammering away at building this new fun place for all of us and I'll still pop in at Twitter and on Facebook, so I'll be around. I'll miss being able to play here, but I truly believe you'll think it's worth it when Backseam is up and running.

I have proven completely unable to take a complete hiatus from Stocking Vixen in the past, so don't be surprised to see me drop in from time to time, but for the next couple of months it will be the exception to see posts here rather than the norm.

Well, that planet would be Mars.

This prompted me to do a little research on Spanx, and I stumbled across the following article:

This map highlights the concentration of lust.

I have two observations:
1. It's no wonder that Louisiana was chosen as the setting for "True Blood."

ORLANDO, Fla. --A 60-year-old man has been convicted of groping a woman in a Minnie Mouse costume at Walt Disney World.

John William Moyer of Cressona, Pa., told the judge he is innocent. His son said before sentencing that his father would never inappropriately touch a woman.

He was convicted Tuesday of misdemeanor battery and sentenced to write the victim an apology, serve 180 days probation and complete 50 hours of community service. Moyer must also pay $1,000 in court costs and possibly undergo a mental evaluation.

The victim says she had to do everything possible to keep Moyer's hands off her breasts.

Nylons And Corsets: Getting Ready For "Mad Men" Season Three

"Mad Men" is something of an acquired taste, and man have I acquired it.

It's a painstakingly accurate recreation of the early 1960s, which were actually the end of the 1950s - just before all hell broke loose with Civil Rights, Vietnam, and the Beatles. And it's the project that Matt Weiner was imagining during the final two seasons of "The Sopranos," where he was writer and producer.

It's one of the best shows on television, and the new season begins August 16 on AMC.

Stocking Vixen's brilliant strategy for gaining her release from the Vegan Sisterhood of Seattle is already being referred to by experts in the field as "The Reverse Stockholm Syndrome."

I would like to suggest instead that it be known as "The Reverse Stocking Syndrome."

As we're beginning to understand from early reports, Stocking Vixen's relentless proselytizing about the wonderful effects of wearing stockings and related lingerie turned the Sisters against their Mother Superior, and against the drab Birkenstock garb worn by the Sisters and apparently favored by so many women in Seattle.

After protracted negotiations between the Stocking Vixen Liberation Front and the Vegan Sisterhood of Seattle, which included intervention by a special agent from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, we are very happy to announce that Stocking Vixen has been released from custody, after more than a week of captivity.

During the Great Seattle Heat Wave of the past week, the Sisterhood reached the conclusion that perhaps it would be best to release their prisoner, for reasons implicit in this Tweet:

The terms of the settlement, as we understand them, were that Stocking Vixen would be released at once, in exchange for a large assortment of high quality stockings and tights, which the Vegan Sisters of Seattle were quite adamant about receiving. This, by the way, should be seen as a positive sign for the city of Seattle.

As part of the settlement, Katy Perry will be released from custody in Boston, and will continue her tour - after Mr Danger has completely satisfied himself with the debriefing process, which seems to us to be taking a very long time. But our only concern now is that Stocking Vixen is free.
